Established in the 1980s, Smartway Express Inc. began with a single truck and has since expanded to more than 50 vehicles on the road. With major lanes spanning the West from Washington to Texas, Smartway Express Inc. maintains a pair of yards in Fontana and Fresno, California.
A defining aspect of Smartway Express’ motor carrier operations is its use of late model tractors and refrigerated trailer units. The company’s staff and managers are committed to the company for the long term, with all key members holding at least two decades’ experience with the firm.
It is also not unusual for drivers to have a decade or more of experience working with Smartway Express. They enjoy advantages such as a pet friendly policy that allows dogs to accompany their owners on the road, as well as an accommodating family-passenger policy. All required fueling is accomplished on the company gas card, and no-touch freight is standard as it’s transported to and from distribution centers.
